“…but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.”     —Isaiah 40:31

Isn’t this a most refreshing thought?  Contemplating the power we possess as God’s people is staggering to the mind.

We live in times when our technological advances only cause us to see our limitations all the more.  We’ve come to the point that we run in circles aimlessly, desperately seeking fulfillment and purpose.

All the while our creator waits, patiently, with outstretched hands, beckoning us to come to Him.  Our longing, our searching can be ended by turning to the Lord and not to our own understanding (Prov. 3:5-6).

A common saying in business is that “It’s hard to soar with eagles when you are surrounded by turkeys.”  With God, all of us “turkeys” can soar like eagles and fly above the mountains of life’s confusion and obstacles.

Our travel through this life is hard and exhausting.  We have to rest periodically to regain our strength.  But then we have to get up and moving again.  Sometimes, that isn’t so easy and we may feel we aren’t able to keep going…but we must!  These are times when only the strength of God will suffice (Isa. 40:28-31).

Jesus said, “Come to Me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you, and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light” (Matt. 11:28-30).
