The Kingdom of Heaven is said to be like treasure hidden in a field and when someone finds it they, with joy, sell all that they possess so it can be purchased for the worth it holds for them. When we find such riches are we in turn willing to pay the price for it? If we are, and we properly manage our investment as we should, we in turn are granted the joys of the Lord. (Matthew 13:44; 25:21)

Joy not only comes to us via the above comments, but in James 1:2 we read that even during times of testing in our lives we should count it as joy also. The scriptures tell us that we should be able to also cause others to have joy as they are led to Christ, through the truth. (Hebrews 13:17), “Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit to them: for they watch in behalf of your souls, as they that shall give account; that they may do this with joy, and not with grief: for this is unprofitable for you.”

Finally, when we accept the fact that Christ is the only one who will be able to protect us and keep us from falling, we then can, by our acceptance, be able to be placed before Him and His glory with wonderful joy. Jude 1:24

There are so many joys that can be ours but we often are just not looking in the right places for them. Someone once said; “There are joys which long to be ours. God sends ten thousand truths, which come about us like birds seeking inlet; but we are shut up to them, and so they bring us nothing, but sit and sing awhile upon the roof, and then fly away.” Let our ears be attuned to God’s joys as they sing around us daily, and hopefully they will not go unnoticed and fly from our presence, maybe forever!

“Work not for the food which perishes, but for the food which abides unto eternal life,” John 6:27
