Do you realize that there are some "Christians" that have no difficulty accepting evolution or that the earth is billions of years old? Since such individuals claim to believe the Bible, but also acknowledge the cold hard truth of evolution, surely the rest of us Bible believers should forsake the creation fairy tale as well - right?

Brethren, may I suggest that not everyone who calls himself a Christian is actually a Christian. There are some who reject the need for N.T. baptism, even though the Bible reveals that it is essential (Mark 16:16; Acts 22:16; 1 Peter 3:21). There are some who believe that man is born totally depraved, even though the Bible reveals that infants are innocent (2 Samuel 12:23; Jeremiah 19:4; Romans 7:9). Some teach that Jesus died just to save a few, though the Bible says He died to save all (John 3:16; 1 John 2:2). The list goes on and on. Time and again, the Scriptures reveal that we need to be concerned about truth, and believe and practice that which is given in God's word (John 8:32; 17:17; James 1:25; 2:2; 1 Peter 1:22). Can those who willfully reject what is recorded in God's word rightfully be called Christians?

I guess I just don't get impressed all that easily when I hear of well-known “religious” men who have made an impact on our culture only to find out they are supporters of evolution. If these are supporters of evolution, then they make themselves enemies of God, for they reject what God's word says about the age of the earth, the universe, and evolution. This being the case, the very thing which Jesus said of the Jewish leadership who would not listen to Moses is also true of these men:

Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father. There is one who accuses you: Moses, on whom you have set your hope. For if you believed Moses, you would believe me; for he wrote of me. But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe my words?” (John 5:45-47)

Genesis reveals that God created the heaven and earth and all that is in them in six literal days. Each day is described as "...the evening and the morning..." (Genesis 1:5, 8, 13, 19, 23, 31), which parallels the Jewish concept of a day (sundown to sundown). The Hebrew word used by Moses for "day" is yomn which is used almost exclusively in the Scriptures of a literal 24 hour day.

Genesis reveals that God "formed man of the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living being." (Genesis 2:7) Man did not evolve - he was created. Likewise, we are told that "...out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the air..." (Genesis 2:19) They did not evolve from some other form of creature - they were created. Christians are to believe what God has said in His word beginning to end. If we consider creation suspect, what keeps us from questioning the rest of the Bible?

If a princess kisses a frog which instantly changes into a handsome prince, we would call it a fairy tale. But, if the frog takes 40 million years to turn into a prince, we call it evolution and many claim that it is to be truth. What foolishness!

Some want to blend evolution and the creation account together, turning the days of creation into several millennia. Why give lip service to divine revelation, but glory to human philosophy? The six days of evolution may soothe the conscience of faithless believers, but the fact remains, they reject the God they claim to serve in favor of a primary atheistic theory. May we never deny what God says to be true!
